A toast to change

This world is full of change, disconcerting and challenging...
Continuous adaptation is the only means of survival,
Set styles of how we think, how we act, how we deal,
Surely banish diversity away from our responses,
For if there was no variety of internal operations,
How may we be able to cope with variety of external challenges?

Change is inevitable – Nothing ever remains the same way,
Cause it or cope with it – That’s one clever pact with change,
Ignore it – The doors to decay and destruction have swung open,
Leave a part of you behind – You will gain another up ahead,
Change will always come bearing fruits...

In the vortex of complex environmental cybernetics,
A war is being fought between driving and resisting forces,
Change is the beautiful bride-to-be-won, and suitors are many,
Who would you choose to be?

Up the ante, take risks, find a sweet spot and change something,
Successful if thou are, the world will herald you as the Innovator,
Quick to act, ever ready to try out new ideas, sway opinions,
Early adopter that thou are, you will lend momentum to change,
Neither an innovator nor an early adopter, but thoughtful still...
Thy, the early majority, will spot, accept and act on change in time,
Never a trend setter and seeking assurance from the early majority,
Thou, the late majority, kick in only when everyone else embraces the new,
God bless thy tribe, the laggards, the forever sceptics and critics,
Who accept change as only one tradition changing another...

Innovators, Early Adopters, Early Majority, Late Majority, Laggards,
It’s ok to be who you want to be, love does have strange ways indeed,
And the bride will eventually choose its groom...
But please never be the one who doesn’t show up at the banquet,
When everyone else in the town is raising a toast to the newlyweds...

This world is full of change, disconcerting and challenging...
And continuous adaptation is the only means of survival.
